Alberto Sanchez and Lucia Davila, the parents of Arturo Sanchez, were both born of families long established around the town of Barcenilla in the northern part of Spain. They married in Navarre in 1945, and began to raise their family in that city. During the first years of their marriage, Bishop Sanchez's father worked in the lumber mill to provide and support their growing family. The family eventually emigrated to the United States in 1955 where they landed in Heavenbound, Texas, in the Diocese of Our Lady. Bishop Arturo Sanchez, third son of Alberto and Lucia, was born in 1957 in Heavenbound, Texas. He was baptized at Our Lady of Consolation Church in Heavenbound, Texas.
Bishop Sanchez was ordained to the priesthood in 1982 and has served as pastor at St. Agnes, St. Bartholomew, and St. Charles parishes in the Heavenbound area. Prior to being named bishop, he served as the director of vocations for the diocese and was later appointed vicar general.
Bishop Sanchez is the 12th bishop of the Diocese of Our Lady.
